Latch Reversal Instructions:

Depending on the manufacturing date:

• Older Models: Loosen the hexagonal screw on the side of the lock case, remove the latch, reverse it, reinsert, and tighten the screw.
• Newer Models: Unscrew the central latch screw, reverse the latch, reinsert, and secure it back.

• Finish: Standard in Avocet’s Trivalent Silver; stainless steel finish available upon request for harsh environments.
• Identification: Locks typically have the Avocet logo on the faceplate, while older models may display "WMS." Unique gearbox design with an extended cut-out below the latch aids in easy identification.
• Material Evolution: Older versions used yellow passivated steel (brassy finish), while current models feature stainless steel or Trivalent silver faceplates.

Notable Variations:

• Legacy Models: Some models, like the 2-roller/2-mushroom lock and the caravan-specific 3-deadbolt variant, remain available. Contact us for assistance with replacements.
• Sash Lifter: Older models with sash lifters are no longer in production; we recommend standard replacements.

Technical Details:

• Backset: Mostly 35mm; Affinity Bastion models designed for composite doors feature a 45mm backset.
• Spindle Configuration: Current models come in double spindle nightlatch format but can function as lift lever locks if nightlatch isn’t required.
• Compatibility: Designed for PVCu doors with a flat 16mm faceplate, compatible with shootbolts.
• Gearbox Dimensions: 218mm height, backset + 15mm depth. The latch measures 29mm, deadbolt 34mm, with an 82mm gap between them.
• Gearbox Mounting: Attached via circlip-connected arms (design varies with model age), making gearbox swaps between older and newer versions incompatible.

Backset Measurement Tip:

Allow an extra 2-3mm for the faceplate. For example, a 35mm backset gearbox will measure approximately 32mm off the strip.

Deadbolts & Rollers:

• Deadbolts: 20mm throw, crafted from nickel-plated brass with a chamfered design.
• Rollers: Nickel-plated brass, designed for compression to prevent water/dust ingress and door warping.

Operation Instructions:

To Lock:

1. Close the door to engage the latch automatically.
2. Lift the handle to activate locking points.
3. Turn the key to secure the system.

To Unlock:

1. Turn the key to release the lock.
2. Push the handle down to disengage locking points.
3. Turn the key a quarter turn further to retract the latch.

Corrosion Resistance:

Certified to BSEN1670:2007 Grade 4 standards.
